IRIS certification is an admission requirement for suppliers to the railway industry
The quality offensive of the railway industry requires all manufacturers and suppliers to obtain IRIS certification (IRIS – International Railway Industry Standard) based on ISO/ TS 22163. This will become a prerequisite for admission in order to be able to deliver in the future.
With this IRIS certificate, the system houses do not carry out system and approval audits at their suppliers.
The IRIS standard focuses on project management and the improvement process in the management system, as well as key figures for process monitoring. In terms of products, quality, reliability and costs over the entire life cycle are the key factors.
To this end, rail-specific extensions to requirements are described on the basis of DIN ISO 9001.
The central demand is the answering of 10 so-called KO questions. From these KO criteria, the processes, key figures and documented information required for the management system are derived.
The central interest of the IRIS standard is the successful execution of customer projects and customer orders, since the companies earn or lose their money in projects and orders.
